Newer comics generally stick to explicitly story arcs and each issue feels like part of a movie, while older super hero comics are written much more issue by issue, even when part of a story arc, and something like lee/kirby f4 often flows into new stories ending the previous issues story

It's something you CAN do with the turtles, and I like how the latest film ended with them being accepted and living among humans, but going the xmen direction with them, and doing it so basically really is a dull decision for them
