An interesting Roadmap for Federal AI Legislation: Protect People, Empower Builders, Win the Future (buff.ly/dZGPaq8) from Andreessen Horowitz. While I may not agree with everything here, I do like that someone has written this down, and I think the 9 goals are good ones.

I was always curious about why some apps seem to chew thru my battery, while others don't. Why Chinese Apps Eat My iPhone Battery Alive (buff.ly/iVZLYQf), shows how one person dug a little bit and figured out the mystery.

Nice post explaining AI and the instant ROI gratification problem (buff.ly/gCoKrb7) and how this impacts the way people perceive AI. If you measure the wrong things, or blindly assume that all cost cuts are good, then you will never get AI effectively deployed.

Australia begins enforcing world-first teen social media ban (buff.ly/YZbWFOp). If nothing else, this will provide a control group so scientists can study the impact of social media (and dopamine) on developing human brains.

My phone can be frustrating, and I often attribute it to being an older model. Now I learn that It's Not Just You - The iOS Keyboard is Broken (buff.ly/pMRLWMI) from this video. I had heard about the adaptive keyboard and the auto-correct features, but this is new to me

Full disclosure - I work for IBM. Even so, the decision by IBM to Acquire Confluent (buff.ly/0aIhoS7) is a significant event. Data drives AI, and having access to data in "real-time" can often be a challenge. I am interested to see what IBM does with this technology.

I didn't read this paper on Measuring Agents in Production (buff.ly/aN3y3bY), but the summary has some interesting conclusions. Keep your agents short, simple, easy to validate, with common models, and keep humans in the loop.

IBM to Acquire Confluent to Create Smart Data Platform for Enterprise Generative AI (buff.ly/JoSvrEs). We had a platform for this, Confluent just makes it better and more robust. Manage your data and data pipelines, and you manage you AI evolution. Training never ends.

Scientists just teleported information using light (buff.ly/CuZmc6t). Geeky, but important. Secure communications will be critical for future systems.

Global pushes into production are hurting more. Come On! Cloudflare Again? Rust’s Fault Again? (buff.ly/IfDrfYU). TLDR - A 1970s bug in a 2025 global-edge network system. Are we forgetting basic dev-test-prod cycles?

All too often Technical leaders (like me) remember to be technical, but forget how to LEAD. Here's a nice article on how Transparent Leadership Beats Servant Leadership (buff.ly/XAizbuy), to remind you about what you want to consider when you are a technical leader.

Sorry if this seems like a tirade about how AI ruins everything, but Is Geoffrey Hinton’s Warning about AI Becoming True? (buff.ly/BOJBpzd) Some good points here about the IMPACTS of the technology on HUMANS. Be aware of the societal impacts of technology.

In an interesting take on the current state of AI, from a financial perspective, IBM CEO says there is 'no way' spending trillions on AI data centers will pay off at today's infrastructure costs (buff.ly/q5HqVrw). Not always my favorite guy, but he definitely has a point.

IBM CEO Arvind Krishna walked through some napkin math on Big Tech's AI data center spending — and raised some doubts on if it'll prove profitable.

No, Quantum Computing Doesn’t “Try Every Possibility at Once” (buff.ly/I1rlxU1), it works differently. And the old "It's a 1 AND a 0", explanation isn't right either. The "water in a maze" explanation is a good one - it is something most people can more easily visualize.

The Genesis Mission (buff.ly/iQZ56jq), the US Government gets involved in something it doesn't understand. What could go wrong? A lot of implications here, some good, some bad. I'll be watching to see what happens - you should pay attention too.

Security still involves people - CrowdStrike fires 'suspicious insider' who passed information to hackers (buff.ly/TyQp6rm). You are only as secure as your weakest link, so when security comes to a single person/point, it becomes a target that can be exploited.

I really liked this article on The Real Problem With AI That Nobody Is Talking About (buff.ly/y1mXUjW). I think that the key is the willingness to do the hard work - caring about customers, learning a domain, getting to know your customers.

I see a lot of examination of the economic impact of AI. This is one end of the spectrum - Companies Are Blaming AI for Layoffs. The Real Reason Will Piss You Off (buff.ly/XqV3iDI). I think the truth isn't this bad - but I do see some of this behavior in the market.

Loved this article by Andrea Canton - Always Be Ready to Leave (Even If You Never Do) (buff.ly/cQ2wjnt). A lot of great advice on work habits that will make a career in tech survivable. Some great strategies about building healthy working habits.

The title of this post grabbed my attention - Collaboration sucks (buff.ly/fEWzRSI). Actually the better title would have been, "Collaboration is good in small doses". Some really good advice on how to recognize when "collaboration" is actually slowing you down.
