I saw Yo La Tengo in 1990 at The Empire Club in Cleveland. They opened for The Sundays, had a live base, and started the show by saying “sorry we’re not from Manchester.” (The Sundays were from Bristol but it was funny enough that I still remember.)

So glad to hear of another connection and right on the mark with Blighty, a word like “shan’t” that eludes my American mouth but that made The Sundays seem at once familiar and mysterious to my American ears!

Nothing would make me happier than talking about The Sundays and albums we first had on cassette. Consider my making that happen in early 2025 my first New Year’s resolution!
