#6 A final "fairy-on-top" out-of-this-world Christmas bauble, backyard galaxies: The famous Andromeda Galaxy (M31).

A neighbor to us, it's over 6 full-moon-widths wide -- if your eyes were as sensitive as an astro camera.

The full zoomable experience:

#5 Last (maybe) out-of-this-world Christmas bauble, backyard galaxy photos: The Triangulum Galaxy (M33).

One of our nearest neighbors, it's over two full-moon-widths wide -- if your eyes were as sensitive as an astro camera.

#3 out-of-this-world bauble from this year's backyard galaxy photos: the Outer Limits Galaxy, NGC891 in Andromeda. The name is from the 1963 US TV show -- first in a series shown in the closing titles.

Another out-of-this-world bauble from this year's backyard galaxy photos: the Sunflower Galaxy, M63 in Canes Venatici (just "under" the Big Dipper). The archetypal "flocculent" (flaky) type. The small bits echo seeds in a sunflower head.

Deck the halls with… Out-of-this-world baubles! Sharing some backyard galaxy photos I've taken this year. First, the Fiddlehead Galaxy, NGC772. A "peculiar", it's a distorted shape compared to the more usual symmetrical ones. Happy Holidays! 🔭🎄
