Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) is an NGO engaged in various areas including sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR) and global health R&I – for poverty-related and neglected diseases & women's health.
Men have just two contraceptive options: condoms or vasectomy.

Meanwhile, 121 million unintended pregnancies happen every year - roughly half of all pregnancies worldwide.

It's time for new options. FOR EVERYONE.

🔬Our publication on #MaleContraceptives is coming soon!

Does size matter? Bigger economies with their higher aid budgets naturally tend to allocate bigger absolute amounts of funding to SRHR.

But when putting these funding amounts into perspective, comparing them to overall #ODA, it’s not necessarily the bigger players who champion #SRHR.

Threats like climate change & rising drug resistance demand stronger global health R&I.
📉 Malaria R&I funding rose slightly in 2023, a hopeful shift after 4 years of decline.
📣 We urge EU leaders to scale up investment to keep lifesaving innovation on track #WorldMalariaDay

🚨 But overall progress is falling behind.
In 2023, the global malaria mortality rate was 13.7 deaths per 100,000. That's more than double the 2030 target!
@who.int warns: expanding access to vaccines 💉 are essential to reverse this trend #WorldMalariaDay

We're proud to join 40 other organisations in calling for a strong, independent R&I Framework Programme -successor to #HorizonEU.
In an open letter to @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu, we urge the EU to preserve the integrity and mission of #FP10, rather than merging it into a broader #Competitiveness Fund

Women’s health must be a priority all year-round—not just on #IWD. Investment & gender-sensitive policies are critical.

Thanks to our speakers for an engaging discussion!

“There is no European preparedness without health preparedness, and there is no health preparedness without EU-funded global health innovation-including on neglected diseases, SRHR & women’s health.”

Great to see the new She Figures report launched yesterday on #WomenInScience Day. The report highlights some worrying stats regarding the persisting gaps of gender equality in R&I. This must change because inclusive science = excellent science 🔬 research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu/news/all-res...

Did you know in rural communities, a single snakebite can mean devastating medical bills, lost livelihoods, or even life itself?
As we celebrate the #YearOfTheSnake, we need collective action to prevent bites, invest in research and improve access to treatments. #WorldNTDDay #GlobalHealth #BeatNTDs

It’s #WorldNTDDay 2025 and we are halfway to the WHO NTD roadmap 2030 target. 54 countries have eliminated at least one NTD—showing real progress is possible! Yet 1.5+ billion people are still affected by these diseases, with women and girls most affected. 🌍

During the #16DaysOfActivism to end #GenderBasedViolence, let's remember: combatting gender-based violence requires protecting #SRHR.
Access to contraception, safe abortion, and post-violence care empowers survivors, reduces harm, and defends autonomy #EndViolence #SRHRisHumanRight
