Honestly a part of me believes SplatterWorld is some elaborate fake game since we've only known about this game for sure for a little over a year. It feels a bit too conveneant for it to get leaked so soon after but it could just be that the buzz led to the leak of a real game.

There's also the facts that Mecha refers to mechanical, its a super broad genre that isn't necessarily limited to just Giant robots. Mazinger Z one of the foundational works of the genre isn't called a mecha he's a super robot, that term even got applied to a bunch of other unrelated robots.

Ahhh ok so Nu variants are still Nu is it the same with the HWS Hi-Nu or does that somehow salvage that gundam for you.

As a Mazinger fan who was introduced to the franchise through Mazinkaiser, I feel the same kind of irrational hate for Grendizer. It can feel bad when there's something commly believed to be better than your fave.

Bandai is pretty good with metalic looking plastic, a casual look at super sentai and power rangers toys really show off the famous bandai silver.

When it comes to excess mechanical detail I sincerely think giant robots look better without it. Mazinger Z's redesign in infinity was a really egregious example of ruining a good design with excess detail. To me a good robot design has a strong silhouette and tiny details distract from that.

There's something interesting about a design that could be very round and curvy being obscured by hyper angular armour. It's kind of like if you grabbed a naked mazinger Z and slapped on armour from an aldnoah zero robot. It seems inauthentic somehow.
