Today in 1948, before a sell-out crowd at Chicago Stadium, the Harlem Globetrotters faced the Lakers, a top team in what would become the NBA. The Globetrotters won 61-59 at the buzzer. A key moment in the racial integration of pro basketball. Happy Black History Month! 🏀

It’s been a trying week here in LA, full of heartache and worry. So when I witnessed her co-workers at the tacqueria present the tortillera with flowers and a birthday cake, singing happy birthday, I lit up inside, grateful to be present for this random beautiful moment. ¡Felicidades!

List of pitchers w/14 or more consecutive seasons of 200+ innings pitched. Every one a Hall of Famer, except Roger Clemens & Mark Buerhle. Clemens not in HOF because of alleged use of anabolic steroids. Buehrle’s crime? He played for the White Sox. He'd be in if he was a Yankee

Happy 100th birthday Hal Friedman, newest member of the French Légion d’Honneur. Hal served in the US Army in World War II as a tank commander; he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also one of the liberators of Mauthausen concentration camp. A true hero
