It's been a literal lifelong journey for her to get to this point. Diagnosed with infantile idiopathic scoliosis at 18 months and today is her 3rd major surgery. She's had 2 for rods, but today, currently, she is having a fusion performed.

Rum is far and away me favorite spirit, the funkier the better too! Doctor Bird is blended and bottled at Detroit's Two James distillery it has the most wonderful ripe nanner smell. It is not a rum for everyone, but so worth trying if you find it.
1 oz lime
3/4-1 oz demerara simple
2 oz rum

The turkey is in the oven and I'm making stock for the gravy while it's cooking. I'm going to do a garlic dill potato puree and possibly a homemade stuffing... tbd on the latter.
In other news it smells so damn good in here rn. Cinnamon and sage and thyme and citrus and garlic! Wife me up, lol.

One of the many restored ceilings inside Detroit's absolutely gorgeous Michigan Central Station.
The building sat empty after the last Amtrak train pulled away in 1988, but thanks to a complete renovation of the building and surrounding blocks it reopened in the summer of 2024.

A few days with just my girls in Chicago has been so fun and rewarding and to see their faces with all the new sights warms my heart. The rain held off and the near 50° temps brought in some awesome fog, especially from the Tilt viewing platform. Cannot wait to edit actual camera shots!
