This is my yard. Took A TON of work to get it to this point, and continues to take effort.

Worth it. But drives me a little nuts when someone just stops mowing their lawn one day and expects some sort of positive result to occur, aesthetic or ecological or otherwise

This building as it was built a century ago certainly has a myriad of code non-compliance issues. That doesn’t mean you can’t build a very similar building today, if zoning is willing (granted, big if).
But the building in this image was compliant as built in 2023 - 6 units, single stair, sprinkled

A gem I spotted in Copenhagen, where the picnic table, sporting equipment, and kids playhouse clustered around a tree in the middle of the street make it clear this is foremost a place for enjoying life with your neighbors. Also someone has built a little stage.
