This is Bob. He is my soul cat. He would be purrfectly happy in a baby sling on my chest being spoon-fed refried beans all day.

At the end of 2015 I joined some friends on a run from Manley Hot Springs to Tanana, Alaska. Rosalita led my team on the way back from Tanana. Just outside of Tanana, on the Yukon River, the wind blew the snow off the ice and left it shiny and slick. 1/?

After I moved my kayak, I had to find a way to protect the nest from the dogs. I found a wooden crate with plenty of gaps in the slats big enough for the parents to enter. This also made it easier to photograph without disturbing them too much.

Many years ago, a pair of Juncos built a nest under my kayak in the grass. Over the weeks that followed, I documented their growth, taking daily photos until they they left the nest. Note the layer of dog hair lining the nest.
