It’s not law’s repressive face that’s the issue here but that of academia (& its cravenness)!
Using generalities like “recent events” without a single mention of Yale? Not even a call to investigate the termination of Dr. Doutaghi or how you are planning to support her through this!

In solidarity with Prof. Franke. Day of disgrace for all academia. LAW schools might as well shut down if condemning & fighting against occupation & genocide is to be censored.

I’m genuinely at a loss for words - Katherine Franke is as brilliant as she is principled and her being forced out of a tenured position for her position on Gaza and student protests feels like a gut punch to whatever remains of academic freedom in the US.
Columbia Professor Says She Was Pushed to Retire Because of Her Activism
Katherine Franke, a law professor and vocal advocate of pro-Palestinian students, had been under investigation over remarks she made about Israeli students.

Today marks 300 days since Israeli forces killed 6-year-old Hind Rajab, her family members, and the medics sent to save her in Gaza.

For months, I have pressed the US government again and again on the killing.

How they’ve responded is shocking.

Anti-genocide protestors have laid waste to Montreal. I toured the wreckage today: potholes everywhere, McGill's campus walk ripped up, sinister-looking construction workers playing Uno nearby, & worst of all French citizens running amok calling chocolatines "pains au chocolat."

CSIS “objective was to keep [Canadian] Abdelrazik detained [and tortured] in Sudan” as it “felt he was a terrorist.” in 2007, the RCMP confirmed that it had no "substantive information" that he was involved in any criminal activity. Gross Islamophobic Charter violation.

“The complete dismissal of entire populations as sub-human, or not equivalent to European or Euro-American bodies, is a stark reminder that the horrors of the transatlantic slave trade and colonial genocide of indigenous populations by Western empires have never left us.“
The ecocide and genocide in Gaza embody eco-apartheid, a violent, racialized expansion of colonial land grabs and resource plunder that enriches a privileged few at the expense of the majority. mondoweiss.net/2024/11/pale..
Palestine against an eco-apartheid world
In coming years, eco-apartheid will become more prominent worldwide as colonial violence is used to maintain and safeguard Western interests and profits. We are seeing this future in Gaza today.
