We are meant to play.

New study finds link between creativity and brain health. Adults who 💃🏻🎹🎮🎨show younger than expected brain patterns.

Let your kids play and develop creative pursuits. It’s as important in life as academics.

The Trump administration has stopped funding of PubMed, not considering a vital service.

Your doctor will not know the newest information that affects your health. This will cost lives.

Honored to continue to be listed among world’s top 2% of scientists.

In science there is no “I”, only “we”. Grateful to all my collaborators, mentors, and mentees whose collaboration makes this work possible.

🚨 A calorie is not just a calorie.

New trial finds that people eating minimally processed foods lost more weight and felt less hungry than those eating the same ultra-processed foods.

Processing matters. 🍎 > 🍩

This “carrying-induced calming response” likely makes it easier for parents to escape threat and is an automatic response across species

Ever noticed your crying baby quiets when you carry them? It’s an evolutionary response.

Both infants and mice pups reduced crying, and lower heart rate when carried compared to being held while sitting.

North Carolina is second biggest loser when it comes to NIH grant terminations. This will have ripple effects across the state, making it a less desirable place to live.

Check out how much your state has lost in health research funding.

Go beyond social media fearmingering that toilet paper contains ‘toxic materials’.

Toxic means PFAS or forever chemicals. The exposure is mostly to the environment (and still fairly low compared to other sources) rather than you. No need to be afraid of PFAS in toilet paper!

Free outdoor play reduces stress hormone cortisol and stomachaches in 5 yr children, a randomized controlled trial finds. May it prevent the onset of #IBS?

So proud of my CFVH residents who are presenting two posters and one oral at #DDW2025 (one of the largest GI conference in the world).

We’re not (yet) an academic institution so this recognition of our work is HUGE!

Sad that one abstract got rejected but onwards and upwards.
