The thing about all these pieces complaining about Marine Le Pen's conviction is that not a single one of them bothers to explain why someone found guilty of embezzling millions of Euros from public funds should be allowed to get away with it

While we’re banning books…

Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar.

Here's how badly Labour are messing up...

(They dig the Brexit hole deeper and deeper every few days by constantly reinforcing their ludicrous red lines.)

I do pop over to X out of habit/curiosity too often still. Just in the last few weeks, it seems to have gotten much worse. I'm no snowflake, but jeez,... it's nasty over there,.. a Hate-Bot Bonanza

Crazy when one looks at what is happening in Syria and can't figure out which of the waring factions coming to power would work out best for the Syrian people.

As of early 2024, about 21.8% of working-age adults in the UK are not economically active - not even actively looking for work. Over 6% are on disability (high, needs fixing, but not the problem). So it looks like more than 15% of working adults have chosen not to contribute to our economy. Scary!

Starmer did mention productivity in his speech yesterday. He highlighted the need to address the stagnation in British productivity growth as part of his broader "Plan for Change". So what is his government going to do? Any specifics or more platitudes?
December 6, 2024 at 3:33 PM
Regardless of the "why", the UK's biggest issue today is low productivity. No other factor has a more significant impact on our quality of life. Our productivity per person is 20% lower than that of the US and 13% lower than the average of the G7 nations. Why aren't we talking about this?

All over the west, the perception of many is that society is in a downward spiral with our cities being overun by violent criminals. It seems the facts tell a very different story. Really interesting article in The Times

In-person crime isn’t rising — so why do we think it is?
Are British streets more dangerous than they used to be? You’d be forgiven for thinking so. London is one of the mobile phone-snatching capitals of Europe, and not a day goes by without a push
