Dov'era questo mindset quando ho quasi quittato o quando preferivo un camion sui denti piuttosto che studiare????

My first thought was the City of Ember books. There's a movie, too, with Saoirse Ronan and Bill Murray. Kinda like Silo, but for younger audiences. I for one was obsessed with it when I was small!

01. Kyros - Mannequin

I liked Celexa Dreams, but this completely blew me away. Fuses the 80's sounds of Rush and Genesis to the best sounds of prog metal, with infectious melodies and brilliant songwriting. @kyrosofficial.bsky.social hell yeah!

02. Twenty One Pilots - Clancy

Everything you would want from a twenty one pilots album. Cried to it more times than I would admit, danced to it even more. It also has some rock bangers - a nice surprise. An enriching listening experience, good for all tastes.

03. Charlotte Wessels - The Obsession

I have to thank VOLA for bringing her as an opener on their tour, or else this would have flown under my radar. Brilliant metal songwriting, soaring melodies, memorable songs, lots of emotions. One of those albums that has only bangers.

Fav track: The Exorcism

04. Opeth - The Last Will and Testament

The surprise of the year, not only because Opeth turned back to harsh vocals, but also because they took everything they learned in their prog-folk fase, and made it twice more engaging. A labyrinthine concept record for the ages.

Fav track: Paragraph 4

05. Kalandra - A Frame of Mind

Kalandra describe themselves as "raw and eerie musical landscapes": this album brings that into life. It's only their second work, but this band manages to occupy a unique spot in the prog world thanks to their folk roots.

06. Caligula's Horse - Charcoal Grace

After the hopeful Rise Radiant, C-Horse turn the darkness way up, into their most angry, angsty and pessimistic album, as a result of the pandemic and its subsequent turn of events. An intense album that leaves its mark.

Fav track: Mute (2024's best song?)

07. Emma Nolde - Nuovospaziotempo*
*(italian record, hence languange switching)

Dopo il meraviglioso Dormi, Emma si risveglia nel mondo moderno fatto di fretta e continui stimoli. Il disco ci fa riflettere su questa frenesia contemporanea, con risultati potentissimi.

Fav track: Universo parallelo

08. VOLA - Friend of a Phantom

Probably my most listened to record, and the one I just saw in concert. As a result, there will be many memories attached to it. While not as brilliant as Witness, it tightens the VOLA formula to brilliant new-wavey-djenty metal results.

Fav song: Bleed Out

09. Ninja Sex Party - These Nuts

I was introduced to NSP by my partner just as this record dropped. Needless to say, it turned into a staple for us throughout the year. It really filled the Tenacious D shaped hole in my heart.

Fav song: Galaxy Hamster

10. Devin Townsend - Powernerd

After the pleasent but unmemorable Lightwork, Devin offers what he does best: some nice catchy tunes in his usual vein. While more is yet to come (The Moth is going to be huge), this album provides tons of fun.

Fav song: Ubelia

the best part about it was compliments on my minimal 1 rack-1 floor setup (no pics, sadly). i firmly believe in minimal drumsets and doing dream theater music using that took some courage, im glad it translated well enough!
