If effective, SRM would undermine GHG reduction efforts and fuel an argument for continued burning of fossil fuels. The ‘fool’ would say “burn, baby burn.” Don’t forget increased atmospheric CO2 has another, possibly even greater, impact: ocean acidification, which could disrupt the Ocean C-sink

The risk of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection is if effective, decisions-makers would disregard the negative effects. Easy to envision Trump making the argument that SAI allows us to “burn, baby burn.” It does not reduce the atmo pool or reduce CO2 emissions so does not address ocean acidification.
