seasons could also be non-consecutive, like 3 months on then 3 months off. just enough for people to make some youtube content out of and then move onto the next project

seasons being as short as 3 months sounds compelling, i hadn’t considered that. i think different approaches would work for different games (particularly depending on general activity) but i think that approaches should primarily come from a place of helping along speedrunning content on youtube

idk about desperately but i think that major speedrunning communities will at some point transition to having seasonal leaderboards in addition to the all-time leaderboards. tournaments have always been a good way of getting away from the nature of all-time leaderboards but i think that this is next
