Druid mourns the passing of playwright Tom Stoppard.

We produced two of Tom’s plays in the early years of Druid, the surreal comedy After Magritte in 1978 and the metatheatrical murder mystery The Real Inspector Hound in 1980.

Later in the day, as part of Ambassador Owen's visit to @uniofgalway.bsky.social, Francis O'Connor (Set and Costume Designer) gave the Ambassador a tour of some Druid model boxes which were on display as part of the Druid symposium on campus.

We were honoured to welcome Kara Owen, British Ambassador to Ireland, to Druid Lane last week.

As part of her official visit to Galway, Ambassador Owen met with Garry Hynes (Artistic Director), Maureen Kennelly (CEO) and Adrian O'Neill (Chair, Board of Directors) at The Mick Lally Theatre.

During the exhibition opening, we also celebrated the publication of a new book, 'Druid Theatre 1975 – 2025: New Irish Plays’, edited by Dr Barry Houlihan, Professor Patrick Lonergan and Dr Máiréad Ní Chróinín.
