love it! one of my favorite pieces of art represents portland as colorful cats and a bouncy dog along the river, with Mt Hood in background. it’s pastel, and i don’t recall artist’s name, but it is gloriously quirky and fun!

sadly this year we got the dreaded black fig fly, in addition to our various other invasive fruit flies. the jam was mostly early season fruit from the freezer, since now, 2/3 of the fruit is unusable. i guess that’s better than the 100% of our cherries and strawberry guava infested 😩

nice!! i need to learn to do cuttings! the better figs in our yard grow on a tree too shaded by the avocado, so i want to graft or root a cutting in another area. i did manage some preserves from our tiny but mighty mission tree

lovely! i have a bunch of them lately (SF south bay area) because i let my passionflower vine go feral 😂 the image is a tired, battered butterfly resting and a brighter one flapping vigorously and harrassingly behind it.

it reminds my of the absolute romp we stumbled on when visiting Croatia last year, when we coincided with an annual German/Austrian brass band retreat in Baška. one band (austrobrazilconnection) had samba dancers!

$1700 and a cone of shame: the price of caring for a sweet stray who lives and fights outside (we’re in a no-pets rental house.) I tried to find him a home but no luck. Now Samuel L Catson the Sweary has been trippin on ketamine and gabapentin and we try to keep cone on for 48hr 🤪
