I was so bummed with Bose discontinued those. They are the only ones I've ever found that work as a side sleeper. I knew Ozlo was the new iteration, but haven't forked over the money. Maybe someday soon. 🙏

ha. Looked on the forest site and the ad even uses measuring traffic noise from an apartment. Just goes to show you it is the biggest source of nuisance noise most of us deal with regularly...

I wonder about the inexpensive insulation sheets they sell at hardware stores, the kind with an R-value, and that aren't toxic to breathe near.

that's a good question, I was wondering about those acoustic panels used in music studios or whatever. The bummer is that I do like to have the small window on the side wall open, because I like fresh cool air to sleep, but I may have to give that up, too.

thank you! the windows in this place are awful. Sadly I rent. But it'll try the curtains!

thank you! I was wondering if they were worth the money, but they seem to be higher quality than the inexpensive ones out there.

My bedroom is literally like 40 feet above the street, well above the sound wall, not that it helps much. I haven't tried heavy curtains to see if that could help.

There is probably not much I can do but move, but I'm locked into the lease til next August. And unless the city is going to do automated enforcement and/or major hardscaping on this road-dieted street, I don't see anything changing.

Also, the last two nights someone on a motorcycle has gone what has to be 90 miles an hour or more around midnight on the 35 mph street. 35 mph posted, not designed. 😒

I truly think he thinks his legacy will be the gilded ballroom and bathroom renos, and none of the real world stuff.

But that's my point! Yes, some people just generally don't want more people, especially *those people*, but I guarantee you a lot of that is still about parking. Or even just the sense of how many new people would take up space there and "change the character". It isn't the people who take up space.

Yes, there are many challenges to building more housing, but I guarantee the number 1, 2, and 3-7 concerns about infill are about parking. Not sewer, not electricity, not noise. Parking.

This is one of the most brutally expensive housing markets in the country. The median home price is $1.2mil!! They call it a "medical desert" because they can't retain medical professionals. The biggest thing that could alleviate the housing crisis here is supply.

I can guarantee that 95% of the response to a proposal to house people along the three main downtown streets would have to do with parking. I'd bet money I don't even have on it.
