This was clearly the trajectory we were on in the Spring.
We could see this coming.
Rather than ring the alarm bells, too many PH officials jumped on every opportunity to minimize this, even last month here in Ontario.
It’s shameful.

Politicians are to blame, too.
Too many Public Health officials were afraid to call out politicians.
Nothing stopped PH officials from saying or (leading by example) "I think N95s are really superior and you should wear them".

If enough people behave badly, then politicians give up.
Same lesson learned with COVID.

Toronto's Hockey Factory is shutting down. I don't think anyone is going to miss the weird basement rink with hookah lounge seats and humidity so bad that water drips from the ceiling.
I'll miss the little details, like the hockey stick hacks on the boards.

To people on the outside, this may seem like a really silly thing to have to work through in 2025...

Paying customers should not have to jump through hoops to use the software when we are not network connected (like on a subway).
The #enshitification of software is real and it doesn’t need to be this way.

The trend for skyrocketing coffee prices has been clear for a while now.
Consumer behavior started changing a while ago in response.
One way to reduce cost may be to bypass American coffee roasting & grinding companies and to source our coffee directly or through Asian or European alternatives.

Academia is political.
Lots of academics pretended that that was not the case because the political structure supporting them wasn’t adversarial.
But now it is adversarial.
And some academics are waking up to the fact that the democratic protections are disappearing.

Want a device with no wireless, no microphone and a regular headphone jack?
And no spyware.
It's a Sony Walkman and it's still available for sale.
(There are new manufacturers on the market, too!)

That's right. Everyone should have enough to sustain themselves, and more.
Even Elon is saying it, of all people. He's advocating for universal basic income. On the record.
And not just peanuts, but sufficient income to not _just_ get by.
