Chemist by education, data enthusiast by vocation. Trying to not care too terribly much, but I do.
A little rough for wear, but still trying to keep its head up. This is how I feel too, sunflower.❤️‍🩹

I gained weight over the past couple years. I am not really losing it quickly and sometimes I slip back into the negative self talk pushing me to “lose weight”.

So, I am making a (more) public declaration - I am changing my perspective on the weight. It is now more of an insurance policy.

Finished out my Black History month reading with the second book in a fun young adult series: Wildseed Witch.

Marti Dumas did a great job continuing her Wildseed Witch series with Charmed Life.

Are we ignoring the fact the HHS Sec nonchalantly mentioned that the main population impacted by the measles is Mennonite?!

Like, being Mennonite makes it okay to contract and die from measles?!?

I get that they are less likely to vax, but they are still human!!

F*cking CARE!!

We have been discussing getting a dog. I put my boy down in 2021, I don’t know if I am ready. Despite what they say or promise, I will be doing all the work. I am just not sure I am ready. He was the bestest boy. #dogsofbluesky

Thankful for my local library❤️ I found a book to help me rest and find joy. May you find some from amazing Black authors during this Black History month, too!

Women know the feeling of suggesting a great idea and having everyone crap all over it. Then, a white male say the same thing (more poorly worded & less planned) and has everyone agreeing it’s great.

Michelle was right and we all knew it, where were MAHAs then?

FFS!

The US is missing out on prime IP opportunities by shutting down science funding.

It’s like there are places in the world that want the US to run out of energy/resources so they can sell tech and fossils fuels back at ridiculous markups. ?!?

Can’t sleep after talking to a 12 yr old about what to say (not to say) when her school is raided.

Googling local attorneys to have on speed dial.

Happy Thursday?!?

Had a moment where an executive at my organization showed how amazing they are, again. They are always one of the ones leading by example and it makes me feel better about the world.

Gonna go eat some cookies now to extend this feel good vibe. 🍪 You should have a cookie too! ❤️

At PT today:

PT: what is your goal with this?

Me: to be able to turn and look in the backseat of my car.

PT: <blinks>

Writing work objectives for 2025 after a surprise round or eliminations is a mix of “does it even matter” and “I really want to keep this job for the pay and insurance”.

Feeling very sandwiched in my sandwich-generation era. <sigh>

Kiddo has the crud - 5 days of fever and cough - took them in to check for pneumonia.

Dr: “We could order the test, but many insurance companies have stopped covering it. It’s expensive and will be out of pocket for you.”

Me: “…”

Dr: “or we can order a z-pak”

<sigh> of course it is…

I have had a PhD for 17 years. I have been married for 15. I kept my name, for many reasons. It’s funny to see who addresses cards to me in my real name vs the one they think I should have. <sigh>

I value of breaking news and I understand wanting to get the story first, but get it together Reuters!!

This is a huge victory for s3xual assault survivors everywhere. Give it the respect in editing it deserves! DO BETTER!

They left “undefined” as a bullet point in the summary.🙄🫤😖

Why does perimenopause impact every part of our body?!

It’s baloney that I have to try to guess at what makes my heart rhythm go “blurp” for a beat then back to normal.

Like “does it blend” but “is it perimenopause” <ugh>

All the stress from the impending dystopian future has really amped up these night time hot flashes. Whew! #perimenospause

Is it still existential dread if it’s the most likely reality? Ugggggh!
