The purpose isn't efficiency it's to pay employees less. New hires = low salaries and are promised promotions and raises, then never receive them. They get fed up and leave or ask and get let go. This decreases quality of products/experiences but they dont care because we keep buying the products

The NIH sends out grants which does get it's funding from congress but the people on the boards that review grant applications are scientists themselves, a lot of the time, not even directly employed by the NIH

If you publish something wrong, some guy across the globe is going to do the same test and publish "ur dumb"
