Unwanted photos of hairy overweight men like this are far too numerous on this site, and despite me clicking "show fewer posts like this" they still appear on my feed with monotonous regularity every evening. Stick to Grindr please and don't impose your vanity on me. BlueSky - sort your algorithms

My Great Uncle Arthur W Chamberlin, a Coporal in the Royal Engineers who died from his wounds on 8th July 1918, aged just 26. Buried in the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Acheux, near Amiens.

Sad day today, saying goodbye to one of my late mum's cousins who died aged 95. But at the wake another cousin shared with me some family papers, including my Great Grandmother's passport issued in 1925 when she was 60, so she could travel to France to see her son's grave at Acheux, on the Somme.

Sad to say goodbye to our hosts after a wonderful 10 days break in the DMV area. One of the highlights of the trip was finding the ixöq store in north-east D.C. - a great initiative selling baskets from Guatemala, woven by women artisans using recycled and upcycled materials.

Wonderful trip yesterday to the Moravian Settlement WHS in Bethlehem PA. A wonderful example of how religious and cultural beliefs are reflected in town planning and architecture. Well worth a visit...

Sensitive flower Johann Hari has blocked me because I reminded him of his acknowledged history of plagiarism, fabrications and lies.

Bless ....

Five years ago today, we lost Dad to Covid, aged 91. For the final two years of his life, he was cared for at Vida Grange near Harrogate, a wonderful facility specialising in the care of people with dementia. I still miss his wit and wisdom and will be thinking of him today

6 mile walk around Warrenton Lakes. We identified 16 different bord species, saw some lovely flowers, and the occasional revolting garden ornamentation.

Like me, they're sadly past their best!

Years ago I misheard my late mum calling them that, and thought she said Granny's Vomit. Which is what aquilegia was then known as until she passed 7 years ago. Here she is with Dad in Durham Botanic Garden, a few months before she died.

Agree entirely. After Dad died (2020) and we went to pick up his belongings from the care home, a lovely Romanian engineer who had cared for him for 2 years said he'd always remember Dad "for teaching him every English swear word possible". A comment made in jest, but reflecting his deep compassion.

Well happy with my Sicilian Honey Garlic or, as my mum used to call it, the Alien Tentacle Plant.

Though AI messes it up completely! Episode 1 is Currahee and the French soldiers killing the Germans is episode 9, I think

Took my 2nd cousin there last Sunday - his Dad landed in the first wave on Dog White and was never able to talk about what he went through for the rest of his life. Barry has wanted to do the trip for many years, and I was pleased to be his guide, driver and translator.

This is the earliest date that my Sicilian Honey Garlic (or as my late mum called it, the Alien Tentacle Plant) has ever flowered. I'm guessing it's because of the warm dry spell we're having here in North Yorkshire.

Was at the Commonwealth War Cemetery at Acheux last Friday to visit my Great Uncle Arthur' grave. Such a peaceful place now

My wife, my 2nd cousin and his wife roughly at the spot on Omaha Beach where his father came ashore on D Day with the 29th. He's been wanting to make this trip for the longest time, and I'm so pleased to have been able to act as driver, guide and translator for the last few days.
