Allergist - make sure there is some exposure to milk protein (baked is fine!) because prolonged exposure can precipitate allergy and that’s suboptimal!

The immune system tries to fight this, and unfortunately as a side effect, there is development of inflammation. Chronic tissue inflammation then facilitates colonization by opportunistic pathogens. It's a vicious cycle of barrier damage and chronic inflammation.

The development of leaky epithelial barriers then leads to microbial dysbiosis (deserves own post), and migration of commensal bacteria to areas where they shouldn't be.

Epithelial cells make up the lining of our organs - skin, nose, lungs, stomach, etc. The theory is that environmental factors, like microplastics, detergents, or food emulsifiers (just to name a few everyday exposures!) can disrupt the epithelial barrier of the skin, nose, lungs, and gut.
