The public's trust of professionals continues to decline across the board. Between 2019-23, trust in dentists decreased from 61% to 59%, nurses 85% to 78%, bankers 26% to 19%, and Congressmen 12% to 6%. The only increase (by 1%) was for labor union leaders. Distrust exists everywhere in society.
Military service is one of the best ways to "better" one's career path. One of the ways that makes the US a true land of opportunity, even for those w/o means, money, connections. I sincerely hope it stays this way, despite the ridiculous speeches from last week.

When comedians and talk show hosts no longer feel free to criticize politicians, that means other professionals ALREADY feel reluctant to exercise their freedom of speech.

Our closest neighbor to the north: almost as many Canadians consider the US to be the top threat (59%) than those who see us as the top ally (56%).

Our closest neighbor to the south: almost twice as many Mexicans (68%) see us as the top threat than as the key ally (37%).

Worrisome.

It is worth asking whether any credible analysis was done by DOGE to determine WHERE and WHAT fraud, waste, and abuse was even determined to exist.

Passport?

Do US citizens need to carry passports on them at all times now?

Elon Musk, DOGE claim to have achieved $150B in savings, a figure that isn't verifiable.

Even if we believe the $150B savings, it hasn't even made a dent in federal gov't spending.

In fact, Trump'25 is outspending Biden'24, even with all of the so-called cuts.

BTW, this is from the WSJ.

Dow fell 1000 yesterday.

Most major indexes resumed their slide.

"Upswing" from tariff pause news lasted <1 day.

Last week's sell-off in the bond market was already concerning.

Dow futures down 200 as we speak.

Dollar at decade low vs. other currencies.

Where do we go from here?
April 11, 2025 at 8:56 AM
Did a few/some/many politicians or others connected with the current administration buy stocks *minutes* before Trump announced the tariff pause?

Minutes before. Think about that.

Who would know that the tariffs would he paused, minutes before they are announced by Trump?

What is the end game to these tit-for-tat tariffs between the US and China?

If American corporations somehow build factories overnight and bring jobs back, and the tariffs somehow end, why won't executives then move jobs back overseas where wages are lower?

We all will pay the price.

Apparently, personal data and passwords for Hegseth, Waltz, Gabbard, etc. are easily obtainable on line. How can we childproof their cell phones and computers? Serious question for our national and global security.

The # of people unexpectedly losing their jobs is staggering. So many are sharing their unfortunate situations on LinkedIn. Scientists, diplomats, lawyers, doctors, engineers, military servicemembers.

You don't enter public service to maximize earning potential. Does MAGA understand this?

Too many scammers on FB, Insta, even LinkedIn. Never tried TikTok. Rarely check Twitter/X or Threads.
