The internet e.g. google AI says 3-ethyl-2-methylpentane has a chiral centre and can form R/S isomers, I say NOT, who is correct?

Apologies, something went wrong with C3H6O2 isomers image. It just shows 1-7, typical of what pre-university students should, but lots more isomers in reality!

Intellectual exercise, worked out as many isomers as possible (actual/theoretical) of formula C3H6O2 www.docbrown.info/page06/isome... >=33, very satisfying, x-ref errors on internet (particularly as I'm 80 in a week's time), corrected co-pilot & gemini lately, thanks & apology! You'll love C4H8O2!

Well now, no bird feeding today! It isn't just squirells that cause problems !!!

Major re-editing of permanent dipole - permanent dipole intermolecular bonding www.docbrown.info/page07/equil... lots of examples, but omitted hydrogen bonding - this is being covered in great detail on another page.

An introduction to intermolecular bonding and Van der Waals forces, also discussed dipole moments, polarizability and electronegativity and polar bonds .

Analysed >50 molecules/ions using VSEPR theory www.docbrown.info/page06/molec... enjoy, feedback from you or your students, both + or - is very welcome, now time to follow the European football tonight. Last night Liverpool got away with the biggest robbery since the UK Great Train robbery in 1963.

also re-edited page on how to calculate enthalpy of reaction using a Hess's Law cycle and bond enthalpies docbrown.info/page07/delta... and show how to apply corrections using enthalpies of evaporation/condensation to get results close to official accurate bomb calorimer values.

Calmed down now, so re-edit of simple experiment to determine the enthalpy of combustion of an alcohol docbrown.info/page06/alcoh... comparison with accurate calorimetric values and reasons for errors. Alcohol and isomeric ether delta H combustion compared.

One of the nicest thank yous' I have ever received. Its great to have your work appreciated from your peer group!

At the end of Part 1 the final slide (shown) introduces the idea of a general formula and, even just for alkanes, can you see why the number of alkane isomers is, theoretically, infinity x infinity (by all means challenge me on the concept).
