Academic (Reader) in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. Interested in imaging, tomography, inversion with ultrasound for NDT and medicine. https://profiles.imperial.ac.uk/p.huthwaite
Great new paper here from George www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... - studying how we can reduce the number of simulations we need to ensure the reliability of NDT methods through interpolation techniques

If you're interested in how ultrasound can be used for measuring bone disease, I was recently on the ASA "Across Acoustics" podcast with my former PhD student Aaron @aaronchungjukko.bsky.social discussing this. Do have a listen! www.buzzsprout.com/1537384/epis...

Congratulations to Mateen on getting his paper out - www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... - looking at improving efficiency of wave simulations in pipes through hybrid FE/analytical models.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... - interesting that the government is prioritising this - the article highlights that only a tiny fraction of road deaths are caused by cyclists (yet cyclists are frequently vilified). Perhaps using this effort to implement better infrastructure would be wise?

Many thanks to former @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social NDE lab member Stefano Mariani for hosting my trip to University of Bologna! Great to catch up and see his research. Here are some photos from around Bologna.

Congratulations to Evripides for passing his viva yesterday! Great work on modelling of leaky guided waves - we had a good discussion at the viva about the Disperse logo (featuring a leaky wave!) - and a nice celebration afterwards with the group.

Just came across this article www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... - students who are behind need support to identify what may be going wrong and rectify the issues. It is not a discipline issue.
