Pediatric anesthesiologist and reformed intensivist. Tweets are not advice and certainly not medical advice. I still believe in science.

I agree that it is wrong to threaten the parents with the success of a procedure. I also think it is wrong to force other practitioners to have the family present if they aren't comfortable with that. We must find a better way to say it.

One year? Tough but fair. 😀

We just can't get them out by hand. We print the labels but maybe I can change the font to something more festive.

We have a rolling list. If we don't get a card from you in a couple of years we don't send a card. It is rare but there are a few people that made the naughty list and got eliminated preemptively.

I don't understand the billing as well as I should but the simple point in my mind is everything is time stamped. We don't hang out between cases and not close the record. We are all moving to get the next cases started or get the last case done to go home. To me that seems the simple point.

It may be medicine or our personalities which lead us into medicine but we are always harder on ourselves than we would be on others. Allowing yourself to recognize that you don't need to be perfect to be loved and respected can be helpful. You support many and maybe they can support you for a bit.

I was thinking more about the beeping noise that the one hears at the carwash. We could change the little dial to Sevo, Des, Nitrous, oxygen, and rinse. I don't know what rinse does but maybe it washes out inhaled anesthetics.

I can see the journal title now: "Selection bias results in signs of neurosyphilis present on Grok exceeding published baseline rates"

I think it just requires a run to the local supermarket. They have got grain alcohol and whipped cream canisters. Surely that would be enough for most people.

That is how I have negotiated with toddlers so it seems to fit.

There is a balance between continuity and self preservation. Longer shifts make recovery much harder. I think 7 is as much as I would want to do.
