Duh. She’s a politician. That’s what they do— exploit and manipulate the electorate to enrich themselves as much as possible.

To paraphrase Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn:

The line separating good & evil passes not through corporations, states, or between people and technology, but right through every human heart.

And to quote him directly:

“And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained”

AI is like any technology in that it is used best when it is used to promote the flourishing of people. Replacing people or exploiting people does not do that.

There was just a 60 Minutes segment about how OpenAI has been exploiting Kenyan labor to train AI.

Another aspect is that most of the talk about AI use cases is directed toward *replacing* human involvement in the world. Never mind the fact that AI will *never* be intelligent.

What we should be talking about is how we can *enhance human flourishing* by applying the computing power of AI.

The vast majority of AI use cases are currently driven by profit. History tells us that human endeavors motivated primarily by profit have disastrous results for people who lack resources, specifically, capital.

I’m your huckleberry.

This is probably true. And it doesn’t have to be. I am just not convinced that we possess the will to prevent it.

There is almost no movement around the ethical application of AI.

It *could* be used in any number of applications that will improve life. But alas…
