I don't think it did from what I remember

From what I remember the switch port of ff7 was actually really well optimized when I played it (I don't remember any major frame drops and I played it entirely in handheld mode)

Fun fact: the stormblood quests for dark knight have the same writer as shadowbringers :)

Oh yeah crystal towers story is really good I heavily recommend you do that before the end of arr patches main story since it's required before heavensward (look for an optional quest called legacy of allag in mor dhona)

Personally I'd say it got alright at around the level 40 mark iirc but it got actually GOOD from 2.3 onwards
