The blue does represent that, the image is intended to mock the color palette frequently reproduced by the ghibli ai image generators, which create warm earthy images (quite unlike the color palettes of their actual films)

This particular image is also not the finished version but an interesting looking intermediate, I used a bunch of fractal images collected from the mandelbrot to create the small details

Its not an ai generated but did involve a different sort of ai technology. This was made back in 2017 as a digital collage were I experimented with using google deepstyle match. The idea was to photoshop bear furs around a selfie and stylematch it to itself to get better flow at the edges.
