Rotherham joined the RL Conference in 2000 and in the first season played their home games on Herringthorpe Playing Fields. The club moved to Herringthorpe Stadium in 2001.

Rotherham Rangers, the first ever rugby league club in the town, played its first league game on Sunday 18th September 1977 against Sheffield Concord. Rangers won the game by 33 points to 25.

Oakwood RUFC was formed in 1988 following a merger between Leeds Chirons and Kitson College rugby clubs.
Oakwood played on Soldiers Field, in Leeds, but unfortunately with very few victories the club only managed to remain in existence for less than two seasons.

Between 1946 and 1954 the Rugby League Challenge Cup 1st round ties were played over two legs.
In 1948 Bramley's 1st round opponents were Vine Tavern from St Helens.

1969 Rugby League Challenge Cup 1st Round.
Before Super League and full time players, professional clubs usually fielded their strongest side in the Challenge Cup, even when they played an amateur club. Trinity won this tie by 50 points to 7. #Rugby

On 10 February 1962, 600 spectators at Barnsley Road Recreation Ground, Wakefield saw amateurs, Brookhouse lose 7 - 4 to Doncaster in the RL Challenge Cup. Brookhouse were leading 4 - 2 with 2 minutes to go when Peter Goodchild, the Doncaster winger, scored a try, converted by Ron Swales.

The Junior Eagles club began operating shortly after Sheffield Eagles joined the RFL in 1984. The Junior Eagles developed into Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks which, over the years, has introduced many young people to rugby league.

The first Sheffield born player to sign for the Eagles.
