Illustrator. Animator. Bit of a Dope. Surviving in Madison, WI.
He's also no longer Ernie on Sesame Street, so I don't think it's as simple as being a Disney thing.

Same. Say what you will about Michael Eisner but he led a renaissance that created new classics and honored legacy. Bob Iger basically waits for other people to do it, buy them up and then wring them out until they run dry.

Excellent.

If anything, they should have signed with Google. At least their video generator actually works. Either way, pretty gross.

Ha! Ew!

I mean, I'm not going to read through all of these posts, but my bad. 😬

Any alt or independent weeklies? How about a nice magazine?

Do you have any local papers that need support? The big national rags are pretty much all crap at this point.

I hope it ushers an abandonment of "content" as a blanket catch-all as well. It's feels so cheap and generic. Peak Content implies that the individual sectors lack the room to grow. Peak social or peak influencer? Great. Bring it! But peak film? Peak music? Peak art? Oh man, I sure hope not!

Social media growth has largely flatlined, though the US is lagging a bit in terms of usage drop-off. It's basically being propped by us olds, with each generation after declining more than the last. A positive trend is that those same generations are returning to physical media and media spaces.

Hadn't we already? Or is it just that time of year again? I feel like articles about this have been trotted out around this time for over a decade.

That said, with streamers pulling back on output, and every age group below ours pulling away from the socials, we might really be on the down slide.

Astute. As some additional curmudgery, I'll add that some of those "norms" were also part of an ineffective status quo and simply less fascist system of injustice that allowed for this moment and should perhaps not be restored at all, but rethought and rebuilt from the ground up.

None of the above. Cold Brew!
