As a physician, I’m concerned when we lump all “ultra-processed” foods together. Not all are harmful; many plant-based ones are actually linked to lower diabetes risk. The real issue isn’t processing; it’s what we’re processing.

Yes, this change comes decades later than it should have. But it signals a future in which science can advance without unnecessary harm. It’s a future grounded in better data, stronger ethics, and smarter investment.

Some people like to supplement with natural oils, called EPA and DHA, in hopes of improving brain health.

If you choose to do this, you can find plant-derived (vegan) EPA and DHA supplements without the fish.
