Could there be more research, of course. And perhaps those individuals could actually add to the evidence if they put their efforts into research rather than writing letters that make unsubstantiated claims in order to deny healthcare to others.

No recommendations in the report are spurious as claimed by the paper. They are based on the evidence and the NHS should be looking to implement them at pace

or seeking the views of independent researchers or clinicians.

All people accessing maternity care deserve to have their needs met and children given the best start in life. It is disappointing that the telegraph and these ‘researchers’ appear to not think so.

Individual ‘researchers’, who hold anti-trans gender critical views, have written a letter expressing their views and the Telegraph has amplified their views, inaccurately representing them as fact whilst providing zero representation from trans and non-binary people,

receiving care may not feel supported as they are treated disrespectfully or without dignity.

In reality, neither of these make the survey “methodologically flawed” as claimed but represent the challenge of understanding the experiences of a small and vulnerable group in society.

What do they base this conclusion on? Because the survey didn’t expose the individuals by asking when they accessed maternity care, and 30% of people reported they weren’t supported during their antenatal care, despite 82% receiving antenatal care. This is not incongruent, as individuals

detailed survey of over 121 trans and non-binary people’s experience of maternity care is “methodologically flawed”.

The survey results can be read here
