Much better for Biden to withdraw now, to at least give the Democrats a chance to find a viable alternative candidate. But listening to some of the discussion on @cnn.com this morning, and noting Biden's statement that he's staying in, I fear the worst case scenario in November.

Fear of escalation to a wider war or even nuclear war played a big part in us self deterring. Putin played on that. I think there is still that fear but it’s accentuated by an unwillingness to comprehend the consequences of a Russian eventual victory if we lose our resolve you assist Ukraine.
