Capitalism is the worst; it changed the parenting/pregnancy/birth world for everyone. There’s studies of how quickly our indigenous ancestors were potty trained. But that doesn’t make money for those selling diapers.. research & development & millions of dollars went into the creation of pampers.

Where a caretaker; ideally a mother would pick us up, rock us gently, feed us with the breast ideally, so could drift back to sleep. Instead most of us cried until we literally shut down.
I say we. My mom did her best, but the “cry it out” method was rampant in the 70’s/80’s/90’s.
