Measles high infection rate is the reason we have not yet been able to eradicate it. That rate means you need a very high vaccination rate to prevent outbreaks. It is possible, but not with current levels of institutional distrust.
The average person with the flu gives it to around 1.4 people. The average person with measles gives it to between 12 and 18 people.

Also: a major CDC contractor "just let go." Others may follow.

This is an attack on our ability to detect outbreaks.

CDC source:

“We just had word that all our fellows and post doc staff are laid off effective immediately. The famous Epidemic Intelligence Service, aka the Disease Detectives, is no more. That’s 1260 staff.

They are calling this ‘Phase 1’.”

This is very concerning. We have spent decades trying to assure minoritized populations are included in research. This is necessary to assure the studied population reflects those we would be treating in real life.

CHILDREN with CANCER.

Who deserve every single chance they can get yet are shown over and over how little our society cares.
