These were folks with invisible disabilities, often, though also I know from friends the crucial necessity of flexibility working to accomodate physical needs

Absolutely - not proposing a policy, just musing based on some research a colleague conducted that identified a notable proportion of ‘craft’ entrepreneurs who went that way in response to inflexible employment arrangements with conventional workplaces.

I think in the current environment of employers being very sensitive to the costs of employees following the NI increase this is very likely, yes. It might perhaps be more useful for the government to identify how people on welfare can access self-employment

The moral case for employers’ care for their workers is strong, but the political move explicitly characterises disabled persons as costs, either to employers or the state. This fails to acknowledge the dignity of persons as part of a society whose worth does not only lie in employment and GDP.

Love a good collaboration, struggle with the regular though. I have found writing groups and body doubling a big help with motivation but quieting the inner editor is beyond me I think 😬

No worries! Two years ago I had an undergrad from Peru. Gave me an amazingly fresh perspective on Yorkshire, and university abbreviations! So now I always ask.
