Two major differences:
The ‘robber barrons’ had the decency to engage in large-scale philanthropy. The tech bros - not so much.
They were then ‘tamed’ through anti-trust legislation, and the emergence of trade unions.
We don’t have anything comparable regarding internet monopolies today.
