*Almost* Dr. B!
Yeah, my handle already says "Dr." and it's to help me get motivated!
Here's to external motivation!
Cheers!
Soon to B: Dr. B!
Info gathering is not just about isn’t just data & numbers . . . . it’s also design, creativity, & patience!
It’s a reminder that science can be beautiful too. 💡💛

Shout out to Canva and @bitmoji.bsky.social
Thank you for helping make my dreams come true!

I am particularly fond of the effort in thinking forward through and building the gamified task instructions. Each color, shape, and instruction becomes a piece of art in its own way where we are blending psychology, play, and design together.

As society becomes increasingly immersed in technology, we must also deepen our understanding of how children learn mathematical principles. This knowledge is essential for building strong foundations that support the next generation of thinkers.

Stay tuned as I explore the science behind attention, memory, and how little minds make sense of big numbers! 💡📚💛

Do you enjoy thinking about numbers?
I know I enjoy math games like Sudoku!
What about you?

Children's ability to learn mathematical concepts is not just fascinating; it’s foundational! The way we teach, support, and understand young learners can shape so much of their future academic success.

Here's to my dissertation: A focus on cognitive interference in early numeracy.

Huge thanks to my committee, my lab, and my support system for helping me get to this point. Let data collection begin!

. . . Especially how it might vary across different learners. This work is part of a larger mission to better understand how students think, struggle, and succeed. All with the hope of informing more inclusive educational practices that match individual student learning.

The SPARK Study (Studying Performance And Reactions in Kids)

is all about understanding how children process numbers — specifically, how their brains respond to competing visual and numerical information.

I’m exploring cognitive interference in math tasks. . .

Even since recording this video, I have made further edits to the project, and I will be excited to come back with the next practice run video! :D

The purpose of sharing this video is to encourage more practice runs, sharing of academic art, and promoting myself doing my work!

...it was progress. And I did it. That’s what matters.

I’m excited to share that every ounce of nervous energy has been worth it. This project is deeply important to me, and I’ve been making daily progress toward completing my research mission. One step at a time, we get there!

Note: In the actual proposal defense, my tone and demeanor were definitely a notch more formal—after all, I was presenting to my committee! 😅

I’ll be honest—I’m incredibly frustrated that this practice version isn’t “perfect.” But I’m learning to remind myself that the point wasn’t perfection…
