This. As a PhD who came out of grad school at that awful time where most were stuck in endless postdocs, I'm seeing my kids graduating with science degrees into this f'ing void and screaming inside. What do I tell these kids????? Two generations of throw-away brilliance. Inexcusable.

This is even true for small businesses (like mine!). Trying to change suppliers to pull support for his buddies, shifting focus to products that are necessities instead of luxuries, taking the financial hit myself to keep prices within reach of my customers because I want my business to survive.

All I can think in response to this is, "dude, who is going to admit to being autistic right now?" It's like volunteering to be put on the list.
As a former educator and student advocate, I can say that people with ASD are PEOPLE, not burdens any more so than anyone else, and sometimes less so.

Valid points, but an enormous proportion of MDs don't know this. From personal experience, it's very hard to get a diagnosis at all and almost impossible to get diagnosed as an adult (and expensive). There's also the issue of presentation being different in women.

I've used it to make some of the skincare products for my little business. It's luxurious, but expensive. With this economy, people are very careful. Synthetic is cheaper, so we really have to educate consumers about the benefits of natural (though not FDA approved - yada Yada yada.

The thing is, there hasn't been much job-wise in the humanities for several years. STEM was the last sure-thing for our young people coming up. Now what?

Okay, so my kids coming out of undergrad won't be able to get a job, nor will they be able to go to grad school?! Argh.

Gotta admit that when I read, "When she's not breeding or raising chicks," all I could think of was that's how our country thinks about women. Primary role: mother. When we told our kids long ago that we weren't having any more, they said, "Throw Momma in the pot. She's done laying eggs!" Not cool.

It's the addition of "performance has not been adequate" that's just f'ing insulting. Defamation of character? Slander? I'm in blue Marlyand, so my reps are already fighting. Besides being pissed off, I'm not sure what to do.
