As the sun rose, Julia still slept, feverishly. She tossed and turned in her sleep. Memories cycled through her brain and congealed together — the beast she'd hit with the car, the vampire wolf that had attacked Carolyn, the dark being at Windcliff...were they all the same?

They crawled upon her - some amalgam of a nightmare insect that never existed: spikey legs like a beetle, sting like a hornet, fangs of a spider. Flying on big black moth wings, they massed upon her. She screamed, but the black buzzing mass engulfed her.
