They think they are the "good ones" and this sort of violence and repression will only be used against the other groups who deserve it. That's basically all the enemies Trump has outlined for years - immigrants, transgender people, liberals, journalists, students, academics, protesters, etc.

As someone who enjoys watching quality science and history videos with his young daughter, the need to wade through AI-centered trash has exploded (along with the "shorts" focus and interface changes making it suck).
