It's similar worldwide eg airport called random checking ,do u ask legitimation,U complied,not saying US practices are Ok .In Nordic countries police provide ID if asked, but that's noone will, it's strange too US election u don't need ID 2 vote that's impossible in Europe never allowed without
You can spin it as you like, but this is NOT the norm in this country and assuming that every brown person may not be a citizen in a country that is approaching white-minority status is straight up fascist racism enacted by the state.
