Dragon Quest I HD completed… finally. 25 hours to complete vs about 8 for the originals. The final boss was not all-time difficult but definitely hard for this game. Very satisfying to beat finally. On to the second game. If it scales like this one, I expect a doozy. Hopefully this one prepared me.

Fourth game of Cross Bronx Expressway in the books. Finally a victory! Really flabbergasted by this one, but in a good way. The “interaction dynamic” is equal parts narrative and cut throat. Lots of smart little nuggets throughout. Super relevant given current events as well. Review later this week.

Win or lose tomorrow, this play will be seared into my brain for a while.

This album hits different in 2025. I mean... everything hits different. No real insight there.

He was already my favorite player. This makes it even better.

Worlds collide! Been getting more into the Retro game stuff that I pester you folks with. And wanted to share this new thing created by @techdweeb.bsky.social (one of the best Retro Gaming folks).

I'll post the link to his video as a comment. He created a solo "table top" version of Balatro.

I'll put a link to the trailer in a comment. Finished watching The Grim & The Dark: The Search For John Blanche. It was a beautiful exploration of some of the best aspect of miniature gaming and painting... highlighting the parts of that hobby that I find myself the most attuned with.

So this is quite the little treasure. Dr. Finn’s Book Of Solo Strategy And Word Games. Still have a few more to try. There are eight games that can each be played eight times. 15$ on Amazon. I really like the kind-of-modern twist on the old school puzzle/word books. Review next week!

Finished Donkey Kong ‘94 for the Gameboy. Definitely had to look up a couple of things in the later levels. But overall super satisfying bite sized puzzles. On to the GBA sequel! Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

Hug your sons and daughters no matter who they are. Love them so much they won’t care what some influencer thinks.

Also sorry to keep on about this. The fabric is fraying and the lack of empathy and love going around is making it worse.

I’ll post what he said in a comment. I think he overstepped saying the kid was “MAGA”. The rest of the comment is 100% facts. The only probable way that “MAGA” was to blame is the parents. You can’t raise a kid to be a marksman and then turn around not love them because you find out they’re LGBTQ.

I know I go on about this 1001albums thing. But, I'm head over heels for this process. I'm rediscovering old things all the time, and discovering new things I've never heard, or just re-listening to something in a fresh state of mind.... This has been extremely rewarding...

The bots work! Steam Power. Played it solo against one and then two bots. They work well. Just squeaked out a victory on this go around.

Already played the game several times with humans (which is way more fun). There’s more than meets the eye here. But it’s still easy breezy. Review soon.

🎉🎉🎉 Dragon Quest 3 in the books. No complaints. But the HD2D is where it’s at. One of the GOATs. Can’t wait for the 1+2 HD2D release next month.

Someone owes me (and several small businesses) money. Someone orange and full of dementia and herpes.

I realize this is already appealed and won't change anything...

Don’t think I’ve tried to like a game this much in years. It seems the whole planet is in love with it (outside of my group and I). Four plays and it’s not dazzling me like I expect with all the GOTY talk. I feel like it’s bad luck and we just haven’t had the encounter that makes one go, “Ohhhhhh”.

Finally. Man. Dragon Quest 1 and 2 completed on “Game Boy Color”. I can do part 1 in my sleep but not done part 2 before. What a great game marred by some awful punches to the face by the design team. Hope the remasters later this year fix that up. The final dungeons/boss were still very satisfying.

Post a screenshot of your first Steam purchases and let Bluesky judge you

Open the Steam client, click your name in the top right -> account details -> View purchase history and scroll down.

Totally forgot about Audiosurf and that Planeswalkers game. Some good hours playing all of these.
