Ah, sorry, that is really tough.

I'm sure there are more bodybuilding "mass gainers" out there but as an endurance runner my immediate thought are foods I eat while struggling with digestion. These sorts of powders are designed such that you can constantly sip them over long periods (I recently ran 15 hours just drinking Tailwind.)

That sounds really rough. I assume you've tried liquid calories, can I suggest powdered running fuel? (Tailwind, or Precision Hydration, both are good) A lot of these powders are designed to be easy on your stomach, as runners consume them while also stressing their kidneys with running.

Having a bunch of volunteers who refer to charities as "beggars," who feel entitled to their position, and don't care about damaging the actual cause? That sounds like a failure to me. Why do you volunteer if you're so bitter about it?
November 15, 2025 at 1:38 PM
The goal isn't to appeal to people who want to half arse the job? Expecting high standards, focusing on outcomes, that's how you find people who actually want to make a difference. I don't care about appealing to volunteers who only want to feel good about themselves.

Yes they can and should. Obviously.

This person has actively stated they will only give "free labour energy" and you think it's the managers fault? Please.
November 15, 2025 at 1:29 PM
What are you talking about? If you actually did any volunteering you would know that spots are often limited. If someone is doing a bad job, they should be replaced? Especially if they're actively reducing donations. If you're hurting a charity, you don't just get to keep a volunteering role?
November 15, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Why are you there if you're not trying to do a good job? What is the point of volunteering if you're just going to half arse it?

Money would circulate more, so higher demand all around, making entrepreneurial opportunities less risky. You'd get a wider range of better products. Way less wealth disparity. Individual wealth levels would be limited to what you can do in one lifetime. It's still a capitalist system, just better!

A properly efficient capital system, whereby all capital has to be used to generate growth or be eaten away by taxes. All wealth is spent within someone's lifetime. We'd have huge state resources to ensure everyone has a minimal livelihood. More private investment resulting in more innovation.
November 15, 2025 at 12:21 PM
But then I am also in favour of a pretty harsh wealth tax. I think inefficient use of capital should result in you losing that capital over time. If you own something of value but aren't using it to make an income, why should society let you keep that? You're not using it. Someone else could use it.

I am in favour of a 100% inheritance tax. (MAYBE people can use their estate to pay for their own funeral only). Any dependants/kids should be supported by the state to remove that argument for inheritance. We need to encourage people to spend it while they're alive.

Nice! I managed to end up with 6 yen on my IC card, but I had so many coins.
November 15, 2025 at 12:07 PM
They're also expensive. You obviously need to constantly replace bits of it, and there's only a handful of people who can still do that. You've gotta replace parts every 15 years, and then the whole thing every 40 years. And if you're lazy about it your house gets full of mold.

Woke up early, got a coffee, tried to log in... Over an hour later and two calls to IT, still can't log on.

That's a cool medal!

After being away in Japan for a full month, I am very aware of the daily cost of my flat, haha.
November 9, 2025 at 11:29 AM
This is funny to me as a Brit, as we have to pay a daily standing charge for both water and electricity, separate from any usage.
November 8, 2025 at 7:02 PM
I was there for a month, you can pack less than you think! Buy stuff when you're there, hotels usually have coin laundry but also buy clothes when you're there! Most hotels give you all the toiletries you need. The main advice I would say is to bring a coin purse! (or buy one early)

Every time I've caught covid I've been off work sick for a week and then felt lousy for a few more weeks, and that's with the boosters! I keep pushing for my work to cover booster shots but they won't. There's no way the cost of the boater doesn't pay for itself.
