If we’re pointing fingers, proving its existence, & hyperfocusing on vaccines, we aren’t talking about THE VIRUS, & the expensive carnage it is causing, & we definitely aren’t coming for our leaders & the 1% as they deliberately ignore it all so they don’t have to pay for it. By the time we’re allowed to move past the ‘proving it’s real’ phase, we’ll be too sick to fight back. We are locked in a race with governments, corporations, & billionaires—can they ignore us, deprive us to death, disappear all the science/data, & replace us with AI before we figure out what’s happening & rise up? Can they peddle enough AI & propaganda to stave off revolution as we get sicker & sicker & watch our kids die en masse? Time will tell. We should be LONG PAST this stage now, but we’re stuck in 2021 forevermore because that’s where governments, corporations, & the 0.1% want us. They know EXACTLY what this virus is & what it does, but they are NEVER going to pay for the state-inflicted carnage. Death is cheaper.

What if they purposely called it a cold to downplay its severity, but when the sniffles went away, it left behind brain, blood vessel, and organ damage, or destroyed our immune system? What if all the forgetfulness, people collapsing in public, the rise in young adults having heart attacks, strokes, and cancer, and all these random sicknesses and mystery illnesses are a result of all that damage? There obviously will never be one cure and the longer it goes on, which it obviously will, because COVID is here to stay, the further we get from people connecting new issues to their last infection. Calling it “just another post viral illness” = another shrug of the shoulders.

Just had an appointment with one of my Doctors and we’re going to try something new on top of my antiviral experiment. It should be covered by insurance so I said “well that’s a relief for once,” to which he replied; “LongCOVID is very expensive my friend, I’d try to avoid it.”

Jackie posted an infographic the other day about the risks AI chatbots pose to children. I said I’d write more about it today because this matters more than most people realize. The infographic lists obvious concerns of emotional dependency manipulation privacy issues impaired critical thinking. All true. But there’s something underneath all of that which I haven’t seen anyone discuss well.

As a faculty member teaching graduate & undergraduate students for over two decades, I wholeheartedly support this petition. Science without communication can't reach its full potential. And awareness of nuances, timing, channels, and biases can often have as much of an impact as the scientific experiments/results themselves.

Of course! We say we are "shocked" or "surprised" when something we weren't paying attention to finally becomes impossible to ignore. The language of suddenness—"it came out of nowhere"—is a narrative we tell ourselves. It reframes a failure of perception as an act of fate. It turns a slow-moving crisis we chose to overlook into a bolt from the blue we couldn't have prevented. The real surprise isn't the event; it's our own willful blindness finally catching up with us.

People get confused by these terms, so let’s clear it up. I’m a big proponent of Dr. Alice’s ( @calirunnerdoc ) framing that COVID damages the entire vasculature .. the body’s vast network of blood vessels.. and that this damage is in part or fully mediated long-term by immune dysfunction. Another way to say that: COVID causes vasculopathy.
