Trump is a symptom. The disease is that a major share of the American electorate has reached a point where they are able to function just fine with the extreme cognitive dissonance of things like “weaponizing the justice system” when a democrat is president vs “perfectly normal” for a republican.

Please, for the love of everything holy, give the CupertinoCheckbox a parameter for specifying the minimum padding/margin, so it's actually usable on MacOS without looking like you're assuming the user is using a sausage stick as a pointing device instead of a precision mouse.
