First and foremost, it is not a privilege to be denied agency over one's own life and kept as an animal, pet, or accessory. That is tantamount to saying slavery afforded privilege to black people. I don't think we have ever been on the mark regarding any of those qualities. We may have said it, we may have even wanted it, but we never lived it.
